High School College-Prep Education

Grades 9-12

Tulsa Adventist Academy’s college-prep diploma is granted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), which accredits us through Ozark Adventist Academy, based in Gentry, Arkansas. This college-prep diploma indicates that our school is considered a college-preparatory school. The difference between a college-prep diploma and a standard diploma comes in the form of course requirements. The purpose of a college-prep diploma is to ensure that students graduating from TAA have a transcript that appeals to colleges and universities throughout the country. A standard diploma, on the other hand, opens doors into community colleges or tech schools but does not typically meet entrance requirements for more advanced degree-granting institutions.

Our high school students enjoy a week-long High School Challenge at the beginning of each year which usually means camping, cooking (EVERYONE!), fishing, hiking, community service, trust-building exercises, daily worships, and more. High school sponsors and a local Adventist pastor always attend this welcomed event. It is especially important for new students so that they get to know their classmates and teachers informally and as equals in nature's beautiful surroundings. Past trips have included visits to Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Curriculum for high school students is based on English, History, Math, Science, Music and more. College curriculum rotates between Public Speaking and Composition I through Southwestern Adventist University, a fully-accredited university in Texas (SWAU.EDU). After-school options include robotics, acrobatics, yearbook, and student association activities.

TAA is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in community service projects in school and around the community. Members are elected by TAA faculty and must meet specific standards to maintain membership, including academic, leadership, service, and character as evaluated by the faculty.
